Matteo Papini is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor (RTT) at the University of Milan. Before he was a postdoctoral researcher at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona from 2021 to 2023, and an assistant professor (RTDA) at Politecnico di Milano from 2023 to 2025. He received the Ph.D. in Information Technology at Politecnico di Milano in 2021. He is a member of the ELLIS Society (European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems) since 2022. His research is focused on Reinforcement Learning (RL), trying to bridge the gap between theory and applications. His work is mostly concerned with the desig of sample efficient policy-gradient algorithms and the exploration-exploitation dilemma in large-scale decision and control problems.
